One Page Solo Engine: Play Your Favorite Tabletop RPGs Alone
One Page Solo Engine is a free iPhone app developed by Inflatable Studios LLC that allows you to play your favorite tabletop RPGs by yourself, eliminating the need for a Game Master (GM). It serves as a virtual GM by answering questions, generating content, and injecting unexpected reactions into your game.
To start, choose your game system and build your character using the rules from your chosen RPG. One Page Solo Engine helps you frame the action and answer questions, but the game mechanics remain the same.
Begin your adventure by rolling a Random Event and setting the scene. Visualize your character's location, goals, and the opposition they face. Then, ask the Oracle questions to learn more about the situation. The Oracle provides intentionally vague answers, allowing you to interpret them within the context of your game.
Once you have the necessary information, play the game using your chosen RPG system. You can record your character's actions using the Player Action button, which adds them to the story chain. Use Pacing Moves to jumpstart the action or Failure Moves to introduce unexpected consequences.
As you play, you can generate quests, NPCs, and dungeons using the Generator actions. The Generic Generator is particularly useful, providing ideas for magic items, space ships, evil organizations, and more.
When you're finished playing, you can export your story chain as an HTML or Plain Text file. This allows you to revisit your adventures or share them with others online.
With One Page Solo Engine, you can enjoy endless tabletop RPG adventures on your own, with the app acting as your virtual Game Master.
